Kids for Kids projects are implemented to help the community members in our villages be able to provide for themselves long-term. These projects are also incredibly helpful to refugees, who are fleeing the terrible conditions of violence and starvation in South Sudan. They flee for their very survival.
This summer we have adopted 5 new villages in Darfur: Absharback, Fardal, Geleidat, Um Jadoul, and Hashab Baraka. This means that refugees have more villages to which they can go and to find a place to stay. Our new beneficiaries have been trained in Animal Husbandry, and first aid workers and midwives are undergoing training. We have also finished paying for our submersible pump in Kulkul, which supplies water to 6 villages. This is really magnificent, with a pump this size providing thousands of people with fresh water. We are so thankful to you all for supporting this incredibly important project!
The refugees who make their way to North Darfur must be helped. Implementing projects in our adopted villages , has meant that as refugees come into these villages seeking food and shelter, our community members have been able to help them. Through our goat loan program, and planting trees, our villages have had food, and our hand pumps have provided water. Our healthcare centres in the villages have been so important in helping refugees. Wonderful community members have been able to welcome in refugees and share our projects and their resources with others. It is remarkable how far our projects can stretch, and how many people are committed to making them a lasting success. But we still want to do more- we need to provide for more villages, ensuring refugee populations are being helped as much as possible. Mosquito nets, jerrycans, blankets, donkeys, goats, and more are essential to help refugees. Please do continue to support our project if you can, and help us to make sure refugees can find a home in our Kids for Kids villages.
