Millions are now facing famine and starvation in South Sudan and across East Africa. Many are fleeing to already poverty-stricken villages in Darfur where Kids for Kids is working efficiently and effectively with 82 villages to fight hunger & to bring clean water & health care with sustainable projects that can quickly be expanded to respond to this growing disaster. To help starving arrivals, we need more blankets, mosquito nets, cans for clean water, medicines, goats to provide milk & more
Villages in Darfur that are barely feeding themselves are seeing the arrival of severally malnourished families fleeing famine in South Sudan & East Africa. Local custom means people will not be turned away even if it jeopardises the food & water supply for their own families. It is possible that all progress that has been made may be overwhelmed by the needs of the famine victims. We need more medicines, blankets and mosquito nets, feed for goats & seed to plant to respond now & long term.
Kids for Kids is already in place with life-saving, sustainable projects. As new families arrive, we can expand our work providing food, water & medicine and then help them settle. We provide goats & donkeys, medicine, mosquito nets, jerry cans, ploughs & seed for planting. We train villagers to deliver health care, keep clean water pumps running and goats and donkeys healthy, & more. We are doing this already so we can help refugees immediately if we have more supplies. Fast & effective!
Expanding our existing projects will quickly and effectively respond to both the immediate hunger and medical needs of those fleeing the famine, while creating long-term solutions to sustainably settle those families with goats, ploughs, donkeys and seed for planting. Arriving families will be directly resettled and children will have a home at last. Families in our 82 Kids for Kids villages will not only be able to help new arrivals but continue to improve the lives of their own children.
