Summary

Decades after the war, unexploded bombs still hinder development and threaten lives in Laos. We offer a holistic solution: risk education for children, support for safe livelihoods (mushroom farming and beekeeping), and contributions to UXO clearance efforts. Your support transforms a legacy of war into a future of safety and self-reliance.

Challenge

The Indochina War left Laos heavily contaminated with unexploded ordnance (UXO). This poses a daily threat to lives and hinders development, especially in rural areas like Xiangkhouang Province. People are still being injured and killed, and farming is often impossible due to the risk of unexploded bombs. Children are particularly vulnerable, often mistaking UXOs for toys.

Solution

To reduce the dangers of UXOs in Laos, we provide UXO risk education to children and support sustainable income generation activities like mushroom cultivation and beekeeping, which do not require tilling the land. We also contribute to UXO clearance efforts through donations to specialist organizations.

Long-Term Impact

Our project aims to create a ripple effect of positive change across Laos, extending far beyond the immediate benefits. By addressing the UXO issue comprehensively, we hope to achieve the following long-term impacts: 1. Reduced UXO casualties by providing UXO risk education for nursery school children 2. Providing skills such as mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and tailoring to secure and improve income 3.UXO clearance activities through donations to organizations specializing in UXO clearance
