We had a great summer at the Virgin Islands Children's Museum! It is our busiest time of year with school out of session, and we are happy to be the go-to resource for families and summer groups. The museum was able to thrive this summer in its offerings and accessibility thanks to the generosity of businesses, foundations, and individuals such as yourselves.
The VICM was able to introduce to the Virgin Islands and participate in a new program this summer: Blue Star Museums. In honor of our military, the VI Children's Museum is joined with other museums around the nation to support Blue Star Families. Running from Armed Forces Day in May, until Labor Day, the museum offered free admission to to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and up to 5 family members, including the National Guard and Reserve. We had over 70 visitors come through with this program, and look forward to participating in this program annually.
The museum also hosted over 72 visiting summer camp groups! We offer a special group rate during the summer to allow summer camps to incorporate a visit to the museum each year. This year saw over 1000 children visit with their camp groups!
Another successful program this summer was our Museums for All reduced admission program. we had over 660 children and families visit the museum together under this important accessibility program. This program allows families with a valid SNAP food stamp card to visit the museum for a reduced admission rate of $2 per person, thanks to Princess Cruises Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands.
Of course all of these programs and the museum itself would not be possible without your support! We thank you so much for continuing to support the museum and bring the high-quality programming of the museum to the community of the Virgin Islands!
