At Favela Inc. we use technology to deliver responsibly and at scale, emergency resources and development opportunities to low-income communities, focused on high risk, socio-economically vulnerable, low-income community residents in Brazil. We leverage the power of data to ensure resources are going directly into the hands of those who really need them, thus optimizing impact and giving more visibility to these underserved populations.
We have organizations willing to invest financial resources or offer opportunities to tackle a diverse set of social problems, also we have a lot of people in a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability, lacking education and job opportunities and at times even basic resources needed for survival. They often have to turn to local NGOs in their communities to survive or thrive as the only source of accessible help. Our challenge is to connect these stakeholders while measuring the social impact.
We leverage big data to match who needs support with those that can help! We know that community NGOs are the main channel of mass access to highly vulnerable populations. Therefore we built a custom software that maps out, digitally organizes data about the populations they serve so that large organizations can efficiently locate and support specific beneficiaries aligned with their mission in an efficient and measurable fashion. We believe that big data should serve the population.
Our long-term objective is to transparently, efficiently and massively bring opportunities for education, employment, developmental projects and emergency resources, in case of disaster, to low income communities in Brazil. Our human-centered technology allows us measure the degree of social vulnerability of these populations, facilitating our ability to lobby and provide support for more concrete actions by governments, non-profit and private organizations.
