Dear Donor,
We hope you are doing well!
The year is already halfway through and it's time again for a report on our work with Visions for Children - something incredibly exciting happened in the spring! But read for yourself:
At the beginning of March, we were able to travel to Afghanistan again after three long years. A lot has changed in the country since the fall of Kabul. On our trip, we got to know the Afghanistan of today, tried to better understand the political system and the education situation, but also the new reality of people's lives with regard to the new de facto government, the collapsing economy and high unemployment, as well as the tangible climate crisis.
Of course, the changed situation also affects our work. After three years, this trip was an important step towards gaining an impression of the current situation in Afghanistan and considering, together with our local partners, the extent to which project work on the ground is still possible. The plan was to visit all of our projects in three different provinces within a week in order to gain as much input as possible from this trip.
Our schedule was accordingly tightly timed and was thrown off immediately after our arrival - because an extreme cold spell had paralyzed the entire country. All flights were canceled due to the heavy snowfall, which made the routes we had to cover extremely complicated. At the same time, the weather made us realize how dramatic the situation is for people living in extreme financial poverty and/or without permanent homes, including the survivors of the earthquakes in Herat and millions of internally displaced people.
Despite the difficult circumstances, we ultimately managed to meet all our partners in Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat and Paghman. We took away three key points from the discussions:
Check out our Instagram channel to get more impressions of our project trip.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment so far! Without people like you, we would never be able to implement our projects.
We would therefore be delighted if you would like to continue supporting our work and to tell your friends and family about our association.
All the best to you!
Celine
