Sustainable & Profitable Livelihood Program (SPLP)

At the beginning of the academic year 2022-23, we introduced the Agribusiness Project to improve the girls' learning at our center in Bankondji village. We are delighted to update you on the progress of the project, which you made possible thanks to your generous donation.

Since the project's launch, we have made significant progress in establishing a small-scale farming enterprise with a bean and vegetable garden. The girls have been actively involved in the project, from planting to harvesting beans and vegetables.

The project has not only provided the girls with hands-on experience in farming and entrepreneurship but has also had a significant impact on their academic performance. Corine, one of the girls in the program, said, " practical learning puts things in perspective and makes learning more enjoyable. And the greater benefit is that I can grow my food now instead of buying in the marketplace."

It is the common sentiment among girls who now apply the knowledge they have gained in their science and math classes to real-life situations, making their learning more engaging and relevant.

The agribusiness project has positively impacted the community. Luna said, "I am sharing the new way of growing crops without pesticides with my parents. The organic approach will help me save money in agriculture costs when I start growing my farm. Also, I can sell my harvest on local markets, generating income for my family and me.”

We are proud of the project's progress and its impact on the lives of the girls and the prospect of creating employment opportunities for the community.

We will continue to monitor and evaluate the project to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness.

The Agribusiness project gave us a new approach to teaching and stimulated our curiosity." Unity and ambition have become the new normal at Aumazo because beans are growing  on the field, as you can see in the pictures.
