Vocational Training - Women Escaping Prostitution

What We’ve Achieved Together in Recent Months

1. Expanded Vocational Training & Employment Support

Over the past quarter, 76 women participated in our vocational courses across Tel Aviv and Haifa. Many are now entering long-term employment tracks in:

• Office administration

• Digital literacy

• Graphic design

Employment is not only financial independence — it is a lifeline. It offers stability, safety, and a pathway out of cycles of violence.

2. New Trauma-Informed Support Programs

With rising levels of anxiety, isolation, and retraumatization following the events of the past year, we launched:

• Weekly emotional-wellbeing workshops

• Social meetups 

• Group resilience sessions

Over 120 women received emotional and social support this quarter alone.

3. Strengthening Our Community Spaces

Our classrooms have become safe, warm, community-centered environments where women can learn, heal, and grow. This month we completed essential upgrades to enhance accessibility, privacy, and comfort — made possible thanks to donors like you.

Project Update: Her Academy – Supporting Women Rebuilding Their Lives

The ongoing war and economic crisis in Israel continue to have a profound impact on Her Academy and the women we serve. Many of our partner foundations have frozen or redirected their budgets toward security-related initiatives, and corporate contributions have sharply declined. This financial strain has forced us to suspend critical emergency services—such as rent support, baby formula, food, and medications—that have been lifelines for our students in the past. At the same time, external services we once relied on are collapsing, leaving our students with fewer safety nets. We are hearing growing distress from women: “I can’t go back to prostitution—but I have nothing to eat.” The combination of posttrauma, unpaid bills, and children going hungry makes the path to recovery even more difficult.

And yet, through all this, Her Academy’s core vocational and support programs have continued without interruption. We launched an emergency fundraising campaign, reduced executive salaries, and restructured staff roles to ensure stability and maintain impact. Our team’s resilience—and the courage of our students—remains unwavering. Security conditions forced us to operate in “emergency mode” for extended periods this year, often deciding day by day whether classes could safely run. During these times, we focused on maintaining emotional connection and providing immediate support. We have learned that restoring routine as quickly as possible is critical—because for many students, Her Academy is their only source of safety, community, and hope. 

Partnerships remain at the heart of our model.

• Our vocational training is taught entirely by volunteer professionals from leading companies like 911 Fashion, Meitar Law Offices, Philips Medical, and others.

• Course coordinators, also volunteers, provide ongoing mentorship and serve as ambassadors in the wider community.

• Since 2019, we have been recognized by Israel’s Ministry of Welfare as the sole provider of services in our field—a crucial public partnership.

• We collaborate with over 100 care and support agencies nationwide, including Saleet, Levinsky Clinic, and municipal welfare offices, as well as academic partners like Tel Aviv University and the Technion.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to advocating for women in prostitution and violence, expanding community partnerships, and ensuring every woman has the opportunity to heal, grow, and reclaim her future.
