Volmoed Retreat Centre Staff Report

April 2025

YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS MUCH APPRECIATED!

Our Volmoed staff are our best asset. They are loyal, committed, joyful, and it is always a pleasure to work with them. They keep the grounds, the property, and the houses in spectacular condition. Our visitors constantly comment on how beautiful and well looked after it all looks. It is all thanks to our staff and their hard work. We are extremely lucky to have a strong team and a strong staff community who look out for our visitors and look out for each other and those who live on the property.

Many of the staff have worked for Volmoed for over fifteen to twenty years. Now and then, they move on for various reasons. Sadly we said goodbye to Anna, who has been at Volmoed for eighteen years, and is one of the pillars of the place in many ways.

One of our staff, Lucas, has been struggling with his eyes for the last while, and we realised he needed an eye test. Through the staff contingency fund for emergencies, that we also use to sustain staff wages during the lean winter months, we were able to get him the test and buy new spectacles for him. He loves his new bifocal specs and is getting used to them and enjoying being able to read everything again.

Another staff member had his specs broken when they fell off and went under the tractor wheel!  Through the staff fund, he was able to replace his specs and get them tinted to protect his eyes from the sun, as he works outdoors a lot.

Our big gratitude to all our wonderful donors - thank you all so much!

YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS MUCH APPRECIATED!

 THANK YOU!
