We are preparing earnestly towards the 2024 She Creates Summer Camp and with your support we would make more impact this year.

Please read below to see our progress so far:

2024 W.TEC SHE CREATES CAMP

In 2024, we celebrate the 17th edition of the She Creates Camp, a two-week residential STEAM camp hosted by the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre. This unique program aims to groom secondary school girls in STEM-based concepts.

Programme Focus: The 2024 She Creates Camp is gearing up to make a difference like never before, with a laser focus on environmental sustainability. As we look to the future, the pressing challenges of power supply and waste management loom large, and it’s time for action.

Set against the backdrop of a world grappling with environmental crises, the She Creates Camp is empowering young girls to become the champions of change our planet desperately needs. Through a series of immersive workshops, hands-on projects, and insightful discussions, participants will delve into the heart of environmental sustainability and explore innovative solutions to address key issues.

One of the central themes of this year's camp is the exploration of sustainable energy solutions to tackle the challenge of power supply. From harnessing renewable energy sources like solar and wind power to exploring energy-efficient technologies, participants will learn how they can play a role in building a more sustainable energy future.

But the focus doesn't stop there. Waste management is another critical area where the She Creates Camp aims to make a difference. Participants will roll up their sleeves and get involved in practical projects aimed at reducing waste, promoting recycling, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.

But the She Creates Camp is about more than just environmental science. It's a holistic experience that nurtures the whole girl, equipping her with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in today's world. Participants will engage in a diverse range of sessions designed to foster personal and professional growth, including:

Gender & Leadership: Empowering girls to lead with confidence and resilience, breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes.

Career Development: Providing insights and guidance on STEM careers and pathways, opening doors to exciting opportunities in the field.

Team Building: Cultivating collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills through engaging group activities and challenges.

Emotional Intelligence: Building self-awareness, empathy, and emotional resilience to navigate life's ups and downs with grace.

Digital Safety: Equipping girls with the knowledge and tools to stay safe and secure in today's digital world.

Financial Literacy: Empowering girls with the financial know-how to make smart decisions and plan for a secure future.

Health and Fitness: Promoting physical well-being and self-care practices to support overall health and happiness.

Through interactive workshops, hands-on projects, and inspiring guest speakers, participants will explore these topics in depth, gaining valuable insights and practical skills they can apply in their lives and communities.

At the core of the She Creates Camp is the belief that girls have the power to drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond. By equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take action on environmental issues, we're not just empowering individuals – we're cultivating a generation of leaders committed to building a more sustainable and equitable world for all.

Our Camp theme this year is Eco-sustainability with Tech and would involve the application of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and software innovation to develop solutions to environmental sustainability issues associated with waste management and clean energy. The camp is organized to host about 50 girls this year who are between the ages of 13-17 years old.

Training: Spanning over a duration of two weeks, we plan to train our camp participants and beneficiaries on how to apply technology concepts such as he girls will to build innovative projects that solve environmental issues within their communities through the application of technology concepts such as AI and IoT.

Learning models adopted will not only educate these girls but would equip them with the right knowledge that will make them ambassadors for a safer climate.

For the camp duration, we have curated over 10 fun and learning activities to ensure that the girls are engaged throughout the period. These include sessions on leadership, STEM career and capacity building, etc.

Excursion: We have been able to secure excursion slots with prominent sustainability driven STEM based companies where the girls can see practical application of what is being taught in the camp. It also provides an opportunity for them to interact with staff, learn and get inspired.

Provision of Internship opportunities: For the first time, W.TEC is providing Internship opportunities to the girls through her Partners to ensure that these girls have an experience of a work environment which would enable them make informed career choices.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your continuous support of our diverse projects. Your contributions have played a pivotal role in enabling us to extend our reach to more beneficiaries. We would greatly appreciate your continued support as we strive to make a positive impact through our work.

Warm regards,

Blessed Esionyeaba
