Summary

100 walkietalkies will be purchased for aid workers, humanitarian staff, and frontline responders in high-risk areas of Nigeria where mobile networks are unavailable. These devices will support emergency communication during floods, conflicts, and attacks. More than 50,000 Nigerians were killed in violent incidents in 2023 alone. Without communication tools, lives are harder to protect during crises. Walkietalkies will help responders stay safe, reach others, and request help quickly.

Challenge

Humanitarian and medical teams in many parts of Nigeria face danger from floods, banditry, and insurgent attacks. These areas often lack mobile service, leaving frontline workers without any communication tools. Without safe communication, it becomes harder to coordinate relief or request help. This delay can result in avoidable injuries or deaths. Thousands of Nigerians in recent years have been affected by violence and natural disasters in networkfree areas.

Solution

This project will provide 100 walkietalkies to frontline responders working in areas without mobile signal. These radios will allow for instant communication during emergencies, helping teams share alerts, find one another, and coordinate rescues. Walkietalkies do not depend on telecom service or electricity, making them ideal for remote or disaster-hit regions. With clear radio communication, response will be faster and safer.

Long-Term Impact

With walkietalkies, aid and health teams will be better equipped to respond during violence, displacement, and disasters. Workers will be able to avoid traps, request backup, and guide victims to safety. These devices can be used across multiple emergencies and shared among teams, making them a lasting part of community safety tools. Over time, this will reduce delays in care and increase chances of survival during emergencies
