It's time again for an update from our WASH program in the Alebtong region, Uganda!
Read here what has happened lately in our project at 7 schools in the Alebtong district in northern Uganda:
- Community dialog meeting at the 3 schools has taken place.
- Drilling of the wells started, 3 boreholes have been rehabilitated successfully and work on the new hand-washing facilities has begun.
- Fencing of boreholes by the community.
- A storm has torn off the roof of classrooms and latrines in one of the project schools. The school took care of the repairs to the classrooms on its own, and the latrines will be repaired as part of the project's construction measures
- As the construction work progresses and the learning environment improves, pupil attendance increases at the schools.
Thank you so much for your support so far! It is only thanks to donors like you that we can successfully implement our projects.
Best wishes,
Vanessa

- Training sessions on WASH (water, sanitation, hygiene) and menstrual hygiene were held at several schools for students, parents and teachers. In the practical part, the students were able to learn how to make their own reusable sanitary pads.
- Training sessions on mental health were also held for pupils, parents and teachers.
- Books, balls and other learning materials adapted to the needs of the respective schools were distributed at the schools.
- Two ovens were built at each school to enable school meals, which can already be used.

Dear Donor,
it's time again for an update from our Wash Program in Alebtong in Uganda!
Read here what has been going on over the last few weeks:
Various workshops on menstrual health and hygiene have been held at the schools involved in our WASH project (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene). Both the pupils and the school management committees as well as the parent and teacher councils took part:
- In terms of content, the myths and taboos surrounding the topic of menstruation were discussed, debated and refuted.
- In addition to imparting theoretical knowledge, the participants also made their own reusable sanitary pads in various sizes, which were distributed to the pupils at the end of the workshop.
Another taboo is the topic of mental health. Mental illness is often associated with witchcraft. The following content objectives were achieved:
- In the workshops, students* received knowledge about mental health with a focus on the causes, effects and coping mechanisms. The training for parents and teachers also focused on care, case recognition and management.
- Strategies for promoting the mental health of schoolchildren were also highlighted, with a particular focus on sporting activities.
