By Samirah Faruk | Project Leader
We had a town hall meeting with the community leaders introducing ourselves and the start up activities of the project; timelines, goals, objectives and the roles, responsibility required from the community. At our second visit we conducted a geophysical survey which shows the right aquifer depth of between the range of 28-42 meters which will ensure water all year round, water quality without contamination; the survey proved successful because both sites surveyed were located within the center of the village which once installed will provide access to safe clean drinking water to a minimum of 25 households. On our third visit we have been able to rehabilitate the non functional hand pump installed by the local authority and functioning to full capacity now. We are soliciting for more funds from your good selves to embark on the second phase of the project which is installation of additional hand pumps (5), rehabilitation of 3 tub wells and casings for cover against dirt, bacteria and the elements, provision of water treatment for their stored waters, training on good hygiene practices
