Dear donors and supporters,
We, Darfur Women Network (DWN), Inc., truly hope you and your family remain safe during the pandemic. Our sincere empathy and our prayers are with all of you who experienced ill health or the loss of loved ones. May this new year bring ease and peace to you all.
DWN would like to express our gratitude for your generosity and support. With your generosity and your support during this difficult time, the DWN has been able to provide essential services to the refugees from Darfur in the Touloum camp in Chad.
DWN helped the refugees alongside the many volunteers to clean up the buried water wells in the camp for years. However, this year, the refugees are in need of water containers.
Why are water containers important? The refugees retrieve water from wells from water container, the same containers used as storage. The refugees have no access to work, therefore no income. Thus, they can’t afford to purchase water containers. They have to milt the broken water containers to weld the container holes.
DWN’s response to these needs are by distributing water containers to 120 refugees with disability and to families that have no financial support. Two water containers were given to each family. More containers are still needed.
Please help us to meet these needs to enable the refugees to have water containers because water is very important for personal hygiene due to the health risks and the pandemic.
In addition, the military coup in Sudan has made a lot of international organization unable to support the people in Darfur, the peace agreement between Sudanese Government and rebels from Darfur couldn’t implement peace in Darfur region. The hope of voluntary return of refugees and displaced to their villages may not be in place soon due to insecurity situation in Sudan.
Since we have dedicated volunteers onsite, we are able to extend our support in such tough times. In 2022, we plan to increase our volunteer base.
We promise that you will continually see the impact that you are making on the lives.
Please, share our project with your family, friends, and network. Your feedback is important for us to improve our work. Water Project - GlobalGiving
