Summary:
The Darfur Women Network (DWN) initiated the Water Containers Project to support vulnerable refugee families in Chad, addressing urgent needs for safe water storage amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With the generous support from the Coronavirus Relief Fund, DWN successfully distributed 950 water containers to 475 families, improving access to clean water and promoting better hygiene practices.
Project Background:
The COVID-19 pandemic heightened the need for clean water and proper hygiene practices in refugee camps. Refugees often rely on unsafe water sources, and with limited storage options, families struggle to maintain hygiene, increasing their vulnerability to infectious diseases. The provision of water containers was vital to safeguard public health and provide a sustainable solution for families to store and transport clean water.
