Clean Water, Safe Lives: 2025 Water Containers Impact
Empowering Refugee Families in Chad
Darfur Women Network (DWN)

A Lifeline in Every Drop

Access to clean water is a fundamental human right. Yet for thousands of genocide survivors from Darfur living in refugee camps in Chad, it has long been a daily struggle. Families have had no choice but to use broken, makeshift, or melted plastic containers—putting their health and dignity at constant risk.

With the generous support from GlobalGiving, email campaigns, social media advocates, and committed volunteers, DWN is turning this crisis into hope—one container at a time.

Transforming Lives, Two Containers at a Time

Health & Hygiene
Before this project, families used damaged containers that often caused water contamination. Our new containers protect against disease and promote safe water storage, reducing the risk of waterborne illness.

Dignity & Stability
Clean water improves cooking, handwashing, and sanitation—offering a sense of normalcy and peace of mind for families living in hardship.

Latest Milestone: April 6, 2025

1,144 water containers were successfully distributed in the camp—two containers per household.

“Many had no income to buy any. Their old containers were patched with melted plastic. Now they can store clean water for drinking, hygiene, and cooking. It’s improved their lives overnight.”

These containers were sourced from the Sudan–Chad border, an area refugees cannot access due to conflict and lack of transport. DWN handled the full logistics of shipment and safe delivery to the camp.

What’s Next: 1,000 More Containers Are on the Way!

Our team has ordered another 1,000 containers, currently on route to the refugee camp. We are preparing to distribute them as soon as they arrive, reaching even more families in urgent need.

“These containers have made our lives easier. My children can now drink clean water, and we can wash our hands without worrying about getting sick.”
A refugee mother, expressing her relief and gratitude.

This Is More Than a Distribution—It’s a Movement for Dignity, Health, and Empowerment.

With deep appreciation, we celebrate this milestone and invite you to continue this journey with us. Together, we are not just providing water containers—we are transforming lives.
