GlobalGiving Visits Be Enriched and TEABAG

By Alix Halloran | GlobalGiving Field Traveler

Getting to know TEABAG staff!
Getting to know TEABAG staff!

My name is Alix Halloran and I am GlobalGiving's Field Traveler in West Africa. I've spent the past four months traveling around West Africa, meeting with GlobalGiving's nonprofit partners. I was very lucky to have a chance to meet with the TEABAG team during my time in Ghana.

TEABAG built an incredible vocational college for young adults in Mankwadze. Started with the intention of helping young people in Mankwadze, students now come from all over Ghana having heard of the school's great reputation. The school offers four-year programs in electric, IT, fashion, catering, and building courses, focusing on teaching the students employable skills.

I was very impressed by TEABAG's commitment to improving the lives of community members in Mankwadze. There are a few natural wells in the village but the water is not very clean and the flow is unreliable during dry season. TEABAG built a borehole well to provide water year-round! Unfortunately, this water is salty, which makes it unusable for cooking and drinking. However, TEABAG is pushing forward, undeterred by this obstacle! They are looking to purchase a purification system for the water and to build more borehole wells. The need for water in Mankwadze is acute and TEABAG is stepping up to address this need.

I am so thankful for all of TEABAG's donors who contributed to this mission. TEABAG is not only changing the lives of young people but also changing the lives of all of the community members in Mankwadze!
