Did you know that it takes an average of six thousand healthy meals of quality nutritional hay to feed approximately one hundred rescued horses and burros each month? And that does not count the extra hay and supplemental feed that’s needed for horses who are recovering from starvation.
Having crucial hay funds is what makes it possible for WFLF and other charities like us to continue our lifesaving work. Without adequate hay supplies, we would be forced to turn away needy starving horses; horses that would have nowhere else to go.
The Wild For Life foundation (WFLF) has stepped up during very troubling times and taken numerous wild and domestic horses into our program from across the country. The immediate and ongoing need for funding to replenish hay supplies is crucial to this cause.
That’s why we launched the WFLF Hay Drive to Aid Starved and Homeless Horses here at GlobalGiving. With your meaningful support we’ve been able to feed numerous starved and homeless horses, ponies, foals and burros, by providing them with urgently needed hay.
This ongoing effort has caught the attention of caring community members from coast to coast who have chipped in their support for this important cause. For example, Alejandra Kiernan of Sherman Oaks, California, when planning her son’s first birthday, was looking for a creative way to decorate. She chose to use alfalfa instead of straw for the event and by doing so she was able to re-purpose the hay she bought by donating it to charity. WFLF volunteers came to pick up the eighteen bales of alfalfa after the party was over, and that hay brightened the lives of over a dozen rescue horses and helped to assure their health and well being.
This project also caught the attention of an anonymous hay producer who donated eighty round bales of hay on the East coast. WFLF disbursed the donated hay to equine rescue charities in the area. And it fed a good number of starved and homeless rescue horses in and around the Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia area.
Each and every donation no matter the size, makes a huge difference for these desperate horses in crucial need. Charity missions like the ‘WFLF Hay Drive’ help raise awareness, hay and essential funds, to aid horses, ponies, donkeys and foals that need urgent care after being starved, neglected, rounded up or discarded and left to die. A bale of hay can make all the difference!.
Our immediate and continuing need to replenish hay supplies continues. And your ongoing support is what makes this lifesaving mission possible. We really appreciate your support by donating and forwarding our project information to your friends and family.
We are an all volunteer charity working around the clock on behalf of the horses, and during emergencies and crisis situations it’s an all-hands-on-deck operation and we literally put our lives on hold to rescue, recover and evacuate horses and burros from starvation and displacement. With your support we've fed and saved hundreds of starved, homeless and victimized horses from across the Nation, and we we've re-homed many of them into new safe haven homes. Indeed, we would not have been able to sustain these vital lifesaving rescue missions without the necessary funds to purchase enough nutritious hay to keep them fed.
While we have quite a ways to go to reach our fund raising goal of $25 thousand here at GlobalGiving, we are deeply touched and encouraged by the showing of compassionate support from this caring community. Your thoughtful donations are vital for the lifesaving work that we do. Your support in sharing information about this important cause will undoubtedly help us to come closer to our goal. Will you help by sharing a link to our project page on GlobalGiving right now?
If you would like to help secure the safety and welfare of horses in need, one great way is by setting up recurring donations through our GlobalGiving platform. Through monthly gifts you can help secure nutritious hay for the neediest animals that come into our rescue and sanctuary program. Monthly giving is the easiest way to support our lifesaving mission. Your monthly gifts provide a consistent, reliable income stream that allows us to assure that these vulnerable victimized animals receive the quality hay they need.
In the coming months, we’ll keep you updated about our vital hay drive project, its victories, and the many lives that will benefit from the success of this project. Thank you very much for your interest and support for all you do to make this incredible aid for at-risk horses possible.
