Hair loss is an extremely traumatic experience for anyone, especially for a child. Put a smile on the face of a child coping with temporary or permanent hair loss by providing them with natural-looking, human hair wigs, free of charge.
Every year more than 100 children are diagnosed with cancer in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and many more with various types of incurable hair loss. The psychological impact of medically-related hair loss can be extremely traumatic - especially if it is affecting a child. Refusal of medical treatment, depression, anxiety, and shame are all very complex feelings which can take months or years to overcome. This project will help them regain self-esteem by taking care of their appearance.
Our project will provide natural-looking, human hair wigs to children with temporary or permanent hair loss in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This will boost children's self-esteem and considerably improve their quality of life.
We believe that mental health is imperative to all health and a cornerstone of successful treatment and cure. Since, according to the US National Library of Medicines National Institute of Health, the experience of hair loss is psychologically damaging, causes intense emotional suffering, and leads to personal, social, and school/work related problems, provision of natural-looking, human hair wigs to children will have a positive, long-term impact on their mental and overall health.
