Nurturing resilience through care and presence

Overwiev

Between April and July 2025, the Mobile Team of the Association "Heart for Children with Cancer" continued its compassionate mission of providing psychosocial support to children with cancer and their families throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our work during this period placed a strong emphasis on emotional healing, dignity in grief, and holistic rehabilitation. By entering the homes of families in vulnerable moments, we reinforced our promise: no family walks this path alone.

Key activities in this reporting period

Family rehabilitation through agriculture – Sarajevo

We visited a family in Sarajevo to deliver an agricultural support package as part of our Family Agricultural Rehabilitation Program. This initiative aims to promote sustainable self-reliance, emotional restoration, and a return to everyday rhythms through meaningful engagement in land cultivation.

Psychosocial support visit – Sarajevo

Our team conducted a dedicated home visit to another family in Sarajevo, offering tailored psychosocial assistance to address emotional strain and reinforce social connection during a challenging phase of their journey.

Supporting families in mourning – Gornji Vakuf

In Gornji Vakuf, the Mobile Team visited a grieving family to provide emotional presence, listening, and compassionate support following their devastating loss. These quiet moments of connection remain among the most important aspects of our work.

Honouring grief – Sarajevo

We extended our support to two families in Sarajevo who have recently lost their children to cancer. Our visits focused on creating a space for grief, providing emotional support, and gently guiding families toward available psychological services.

Grief support – Visoko

Another visit was made to a bereaved family in Visoko, where we offered a space of understanding, remembrance, and respectful dialogue to accompany them in the earliest, most fragile stages of mourning.

Our impact in this quarter

  • Through these deeply human engagements, the Mobile Team has:
  • Reinforced the importance of long-term psychosocial care, both during and after treatment
  • Helped families navigate complex emotions of grief with empathy and presence
  • Promoted resilience through practical rehabilitation, such as agricultural empowerment
  • Fostered a culture of respectful, trauma-informed support for every family in need

Looking ahead

In the next phase of our work, we aim to:

  • Expand rehabilitation initiatives for families in post-treatment life
  • Launch structured grief-support workshops for bereaved parents
  • Increase outreach to isolated and rural communities facing psychological vulnerability

With gratitude

To our GlobalGiving supporters and donors:
Your continued generosity enables us to show up where it matters most, in living rooms, gardens, and grieving homes, not with answers, but with time, understanding, and the quiet power of human presence. Thank you for helping us turn pain into dignity and sorrow into solidarity.

Together, we are nurturing resilience and building hope, one family at a time.
