A Group discussion: A deeper learning facilitated
Kole Intellectual Forum – Institute of Home Economics – uses a group discussions technique as one of the tools to facilitate deeper understanding, knowledge retention, and active learning to the students; by engaging them into collaborative knowledge construction and critical thinking. This approach encourages students to articulate their ideas, consider diverse perspectives, and refine their own understanding, ultimately enhancing their overall learning experience.
The findings reveals that: the approach encourages students to actively process information and connect different concepts, leading to a more profound understanding of the subject matter; makes them to actively participate and articulate their understanding, while also retaining information for longer periods above all, shifting their focus from passive reception to active participation, making them co-creators of knowledge.
