Afghanistan is prone to earthquakes, flooding, drought, landslides, and avalanches. Over four decades of conflict, coupled with environmental degradation, and insufficient investment in disaster risk reduction strategies, have contributed to the increasing vulnerability of the Afghan people to cope with the sudden shock of natural disasters and the conflict in the region.
Since june 2022 IBC has provided food parcels to more than 3000 IDPs between Heart, Kunduz, Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif region. Our food parcels generally consist of 2,000Kcals and include 5kg wheat flour, 2kg rice, 2lt edible oil, 2kg lentils, 0.5kg green tea, 1.5kg pasta, 570gr jam, 830gr tomato paste, 750gr salt. IBC activities in Afghanistan in Food projects are in line with Ocha FSL cluster objective to ensure strong leadership and coordination of emergency food security and agriculture interventions to address critical humanitarian needs, promote effective and efficient responses and build national capacities in food security analysis, response planning and coordination.
