She was broken, the things that had happened to here were more than a normal human being could bear. She couldn't speak about it, and kept it all inside, hoping it would go away. But it didn't, it haunted her, it gave her nightmares, it made her depressed. The more she tried to ignore it the more problems it created. Finally she knew she had to reach out for help, for the sake of herself and her 2 children.
It took a lot of courage to go to the hospital and speak out. She fell apart, couldn't stop crying, wanting to end it all. She was referred to the safehouse. She came as a shade, not able to talk to anyone, crying and not knowing how to get out of this nightmare. Slowly she calmed down, she started to look around, she started to interact, she found out she was not alone. She got the love, care and counselling she so desperately needed.
She learned to stand tall again, she learned to decided about her future, she started to look after her childern again and here she is today....ready to leave, ready to start a small business so she can look after her children. She has changed from being a victim into being a survivor. You can't undo what has happened to you, but you can change how you deal with it!
This is one of the many stories we see on a daily basis in our safehouse for women. It makes us grateful for you as a donor. Your donation has made it possible for these women to be dignified again and face their future with hope.
Thank you so much!
