Colombia is home to some of the richest biodiversity on Earth, but its wildlife faces increasing threats from habitat destruction, climate change, and human encroachment. At Women for Conservation, we believe that empowering women scientists is key to developing sustainable, research-backed conservation strategies. This project aims to provide essential support to women scientists working in Colombia to protect endangered species and ecosystems.
Colombia's extraordinary biodiversity is at risk. From the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin to the majestic Andean bear, countless species are facing the threat of extinction due to habitat loss, deforestation, and human-wildlife conflict. Despite these pressing challenges, women remain underrepresented in the field of conservation science, limiting the range of perspectives and approaches to protecting wildlife.
This project will provide financial and logistical support to women scientists in Colombia, enabling them to conduct essential field research on endangered species and their habitats. By offering scholarships, research equipment, and mentorship, we will empower women to pursue conservation careers and contribute to the scientific understanding needed to protect biodiversity.
The long-term impact of supporting women scientists in conservation is profound. By empowering women with the tools and opportunities to contribute to wildlife research, we are ensuring the development of more comprehensive and effective conservation strategies. Their research will not only inform wildlife management policies but also inspire the next generation of female conservationists in Colombia and beyond.
