DONATE between April 3-7 Little by Little campaign – Eligible donations up to $50 will be matched at 50% per unique donor per organization. You can donate to CHI and AIL and get match and donate more than $50 but over $50 will not be matched.

AIL’s uses many approaches to advance women’s empowerment.

One project is the year-long Youth Club which has 100 members, half of them young women. The age range is 19 to 25 years and all are high school graduates with many attending university. The course teaches youth about topics such as leadership, social entrepreneurship, innovative technology, conflict resolution and current problems in society. The youth learn about democracy, good citizenship and core values. In February, the session for women was held online and the guest speaker spoke about the Sustainable Development Goals.

AIL’s Learning Centers provide women with education in subjects ranging from academic to income generating such as English, tailoring and computing. In February, there were over 5,000 women and girls attending classes at centers. AIL also reaches women with education through programming on TV and Radio Meraj. Most recently TV Meraj has set up a comprehensive curriculum for 7-12th grade education for those girls unable to attend school.

AIL’s network of 12 health clinics provide women with health care and life changing health education, which enables them to lead better lives. The workshop program provides valuable education in reproductive health as well as topics such as leadership and teacher training.

AIL’s Research Center conducts studies on topics of interest in society and how these affect women and families is a frequent focus. In February, addiction was the current topic.

The Women’s Empowerment Group provides a resource for educated women to continue developing their skills and education. The solutions lie in education and awareness, work opportunities, supporting the voice of women and women’s businesses, gender equality, job creation, political and economic independence and access to resources. All of the solutions have to be managed within the current political and civil situation in the country.

A multi-pronged approach is the best way to empower women and help them reach their potential and help their families lead better lives.

Thank you for your support which is helping Afghan women improve their lives.
