Helping women succeed

By Elizabeth A Appleyard | Program Administrator

AIL seeks to empower women through a range of programming including healthcare, education, income generating skills classes, workshops, quality teacher training and special seminars.

One of the special courses provided recently was in January when the Applied Skills of Journalism course was held over four weeks. The goal of the course was to improve the academic level of journalism students, professionals and media employees.  The course was very popular and had 300 applicants for the 50 places

It included the basics of journalism, history of world media, media literacy and mobile journalism. In addition, the topic of photography was covered such as editing with mobile phones, framing, lighting and subject selection. The course was taught by prominent Herat journalists to university students, social media users and young staff members of Herat media. A total of 50 participants consisting of 20 women and 30 men participated in this training program.

Thank you for your interest in helping the women of Afghanistan.
