Dear friends,
Warm greetings from educate.! It is an honour to share this report with you, highlighting the learning, hard work and impact that we have achieved together in the lives of children and young people in Honduras these last months.
At educate., we strongly believe in the transformative power of education. Our mission is to empower children and youth in Honduras through community-based initiatives focused on education. In these first few months of 2026, we have been reminded yet again of the powerful difference that educate.’s support makes.
Our scholarship programme is this year supporting 45 students from across three rural municipalities – young people who are breaking barriers and shifting the narrative of what it means to be a young person in rural Honduras today. Of these, 39 are enrolled in secondary school and 6 have made it to university, becoming powerful examples of perseverance for their families and communities, as well as for our younger scholars who see them as role models. Over 60% of our students are also girls and young women, who often face additional barriers due to gender inequalities that persist in many rural communities.
Our Youth Center has also become a growing hub for youth leadership and active learning. This year we kicked off our 2026 programmes with a new cohort of young leaders taking on positions as programme coordinators. These spaces are not only for scholarship students, but are also open to volunteers, who have the opportunity to learn, lead, and grow alongside their peers. We are deeply committed to our young peoples' development and would like to celebrate it by sharing these stories with you:
Joven Comunica: Young storytellers
Our youth communications programme Joven Comunica provides a space where rural youth can develop their voice and bring visibility to the realities of their communities. In this space, led by our university scholarship student Josue, young people are strengthening their skills in digital communication and audiovisual production, learning photography, writing, and video and audio editing. Using practical tools such as cameras and digital editing software, the young participants become active storytellers of their own realities, reflecting their experiences and perspectives.
EducARTE: visual arts for self-expression and social transformation
Through EducARTE, young people gain a space to develop their creativity while also learning artistic methods around colour and composition, and practicing different artistic practices such as drawing, painting, sculpture and graffiti. The programme also uses art as a tool for promoting social change and encouraging critical thinking through the arts. Our young leader Marely has taken leadership of the programme this year, with introductory activities focused on using aerosol paints to transform the walkway to the Youth Center into a bright canvas!
UniDeportes: Leadership and equity through sport
In our sports programme, UniDeportes, girls and boys participate in sports activities that foster inclusion, equity, leadership, and teamwork. Beyond strengthening physical health, the programme promotes gender equality, positive coexistence, and personal and community development, creating spaces where everyone can learn, grow, and participate in an environment of respect and trust. Co-led by university scholars Elvin and Nallely, UniDeportes participants collectively lead monthly sports day events in rural communities to engage children in healthy play and promote gender equity in sport.
Technology with Purpose: closing the digital divide for rural youth
Our hands-on STEM programme expands access to practical STEM learning for young people from rural public schools, helping them develop digital and problem-solving skills that are essential for their education and future careers. Led by our university scholarship student Sury, the programme engages participants in interactive lessons and guided practice where they learn to use computers, work with Microsoft Office tools, and also explore basic coding and robotics!
Thanks to your support, these programmes allow rural youth to learn, express themselves, create, and lead, building a future with more opportunities and stronger, more engaged communities. Your support makes it possible for these stories of talent, creativity, and leadership to continue growing. Thank you for being part of this transformation!
With gratitude,
Natalia Anariba
