This project will provide free health support to adolescents and youth living in and around the Ayenya village in Ghana who are at risk of becoming victims of health challenges which includes teenage pregnancy, abortion, suicide, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AID, and drug abuse.
Ayenya community has been faced with adolescent health challenges, key among these challenges are high teenage pregnancy, abortion, sexually transmitted infections, and drug abuse. Within the past three years, the Ayenya community with a population less than a thousand has recorded some of the highest cases of teenage pregnancy, abortion, and sexually transmitted infections within the Shia Osudoku District in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
Impact Youth will resource the community health centre in providing adolescent health education and support services for adolescents and youth in and around the Ayenya community. A monthly adolescent health sports activity will be run and managed by local youth with the supervision of a certified health professional within the district. The community health centre will also provide growth monitoring for children, family planning, nutrition counselling, and HIV testing and counselling.
The project will educate, support, and empower 100 adolescents and youth improving their physical, sexual, and mental well-being, which will provide them with a healthy lifestyle allowing them pursue their ambitions in education, sports, and business to rise out of poverty.
