Update about Resource Center NGO

By Elina Grigoryan | Assistant Director

Since 2006 Charentsavan Resource Center NGO works with disabled children and young people. The only non-governmental organization that handles the educational and social programs and services to children and their families, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Special Education, social, psychological and legal counseling, hygienic care, food, clothing and other household goods. We organize and conduct courses such as, pottery, painting, and sewing. This is to help ensure their social inclusion and integration in society. Special attention is given to children with disabilities. The beneficiaries of Charentsavan Resource Center NGOare mainly in the areasof Kotayk Marz, the town of Charentsavan and surrounding ruralcommunities of Alapars, Arzakan, assets, Fantan, Karenis. There are multiple age ranges of our beneficiaries with disabilities, including, 6-15, 16-35,and 50+.  We help more than 150 children, youth, and families living with children with disabilities.

Some of our main initiatives that we have annual projects to help youth with disabilities are:

1. The organization operates a pottery studio/workshop which opens up the possibility of job creation for people with disabilities and their parents/families to improve social conditions of employment, disabled people's integration into society, and to meet other needs of the disabled community.
2. The work of hand-made clay art by disabled children participated in a number of international, global and local exhibitions.
3. The organization operates a sewing workshop for members of the families of disabled children, where they learn the craft and work.
4. Each year, in summer, we help organize a camp in the town of Stepanavanfor three age groupsof disabled children consisting of 10 people.

Having a space specially dedicated to these and more projects and therapies, would greatly increase the number of projects we could handle a year as well as the number of beneficiaries we could house to do these projects.
