The project aims to transform vulnerable youth and women in eastern DRC into action leaders for peace and economic development. We offer leadership training, peace awareness workshops, and income-generating activities. This project takes place in communities affected by armed conflict, where we work directly with 1,000 youth and 2,000 women to provide them with the skills needed for sustainable economic recovery. Eastern DRC faces persistent violence, with more than 5 million people internally displaced due to armed conflict. Nearly 70% of the population lives below the poverty line, and women and girls are particularly affected, representing 60% of those displaced. Young people, often aged 15 to 24, are recruited by armed groups, while 1 in 5 girls do not complete primary school due to violence. Economic opportunities are limited, with youth unemployment reaching 30%. Hence, poverty and despair.
This project will implement training, encourage collaboration, connect, and train young people in leadership and peace, reaching 1 million participants. Through awareness-raising workshops, we educate about conflict and peaceful coexistence. We offer vocational skills training to generate income, thereby reducing poverty. By creating networks of young leaders, we promote community collaboration. Monitoring mechanisms will ensure the impact and adaptation of strategies, promoting sustainable.
Establishing a culture of peace, reducing conflict and promoting social cohesion. Economic empowerment of youth and women through training will generate businesses and reduce unemployment. Creating networks of leaders will encourage sustainable community initiatives. Engaging youth in solutions and empowering them to take initiatives. Cultivating positive attitudes toward diversity will prepare an engaged generation, positively influencing local and national policies.
