MOVING FROM COMPETITION TO COLLABORATION

In NGOimpacto we have been working for 10 years with indigenous women from different communities in Chiapas, during this time we have achieved a communication that has allowed us to build trust among us, strengthening friendship and affection.

The exchange of experiences between the Malena and Jalab Ants' group is a clear example of this.

Working as a team has allowed us to demonstrate and feel the trust that exists with the women and the groups they belong to.

This activity is the result of the intention to support each other, every day we learn and are motivated by seeing women encouraged to seek new opportunities to move forward with their families.

This meeting not only resulted in the exchange of knowledge about production, but also generated a cultural and linguistic exchange that allowed the women to learn their first words in Tsotsil/Tseltal/Tseltal/Ttsotsil. The first day took place amid laughter, greetings and expressions of gratitude, and they said goodbye while waiting for the next meeting, which took place the following day to follow up on the activity. The objective was to generate a space for collective reflection on their role and experiences as members of a community, as a fundamental part of their identity and as agents of innovation. This was achieved by sharing their knowledge and experiences about the reality of their craft work: motivations, challenges and local and external problems. They explained that this way more and better ideas for innovation emerge, and that when they maintain mutual support, working as a team allows them to solve problems effectively. The dialogue between them resulted in the empowerment and revitalization of certain practices of management and use of different resources around the creation of innovative pieces. The resulting products will be part of Juxta by, where the groups put into practice their skills and abilities for their proper insertion into JUXTA NATION. The collection proposes a different aesthetic using artisanal techniques, thus expanding the commercial offer of the platform, while it is an economic activation that will benefit both groups. An experience where women move from competition to collaboration and from collaboration to shared leadership.
