AME Viva - Yoga & Wellbeing for Slum Youth

Challenge

AME Viva addresses the severe impact of non-communicable diseases, which cause over 70% of deaths, especially in lower-class communities. In Rio's favelas, systemic inequality, poor education, and drug gang violence exacerbate health issues, leading to eating disorders, addiction, and mental health problems. Our project benefits children and families by providing natural food, meditation, and exercise, fostering resilience and health, helping them overcome these significant challenges.

Solution

AME Viva solves the problem through Natural Food Nutrition, Meditation, and Physical Exercise. Our Yoga and martial arts classes foster joy and happiness through clean living, self-care, and a positive worldview. By developing compassion, inner peace, and resilience, we reduce the likelihood of unhealthy lifestyles and create a better environment for families. Long-Term Impact

AME Viva's long-term effects include healthier lifestyles and reduced non-communicable diseases in Rio's favelas. The project impacts nearly 600 favela residents annually, fostering resilience and self-care, positively influencing their families and friends. By training local professors, we ensure continuity and create income opportunities for students. This approach also diminishes the risk of gang violence, as empowered youth become positive influences and future leaders in their communities.
