As the internally displaced people in our area are still in a very dire situation and we had managed to raise enough to do a second round of assistance to the elderly people in one IDP site. We currently face many problems as organisation, one being the lack of cash. Banks have run out of cash and it is not being replenished leaving many people in big problems. In the past few months everyone has changed to doing bank transfer for every payment. First traders were hesitant but as there is no other way, now we can pay for everything by just doing a transfer. Unfortunately this has left the illiterate or people without a phone in problems.but people are slowly catching up with the help of their children or other family members.
So our second round of assistance was done by money transfer to the bank account of our beneficiaries and we were able to assist 116 elderly people. The people were so thankful, we have been assisting these people since 2021 and it is so sad that they are still there, waiting to go back home. Just to give them a little money lifts their spirits!. We also added funds for the whole site to purchase an ox for their easter celebration.
We thank you so much for your contribution, the situation remains very difficult and many people are suffering! We feel helpless that we are not able to assist more people but at the same time we are grateful for the people we are able to help. We hope we can raise a little more funds so we can do a third round!
Thank you for being a part of bringing some hope in the life of these poor people
