Dear friends,
It is slightly over 3 years since we launched this campaign in November 2020 to return and keep our girls in school following the prolonged school closures occasioned by the Covid 19 pandemic. We write to you today with profound gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for your exceptional support over the past 40 months! We have witnessed incredible journeys of resilience and achievement among the 77 students we have supported through scholarships.
We are delighted to share that all the 11 girls from the Akili Academy who sat for their primary school exit exams (KCPE) in November 2023 all excelled with over 60% of them scoring 300 marks out of 500, showcasing their dedication, hard work, and determination to succeed.
In January, these 11 girls embarked on a new chapter of their educational journey by joining different high schools in western Kenya and beyond, thanks to the support provided by your generous gifts. Their transition to high school marks a significant milestone in their lives and opens up new opportunities for them to continue their education and pursue their dreams.
This year, we have expanded the scholarship program to support more bright but vulnerable girls and boys in high school and colleges through one off school fees payments which plays a significant role in helping them to transit to high school and tertiary institutions as they apply for government scholarships, bursaries and other forms of support. A total of 30 students have benefited from this initiative increasing their chances of staying in school and building their dreams.
Among the beneficiaries is Judith who recently graduated from high school. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and support. After facing immense challenges that forced her to drop out of school in 10th grade due to financial constraints, lack of essential school supplies and support at home, Judith was on the verge of giving up on her dreams. However, through the Scholarship Program, we were able to provide her with the opportunity to continue her education at Ndiru Mixed Secondary School where she recently excelled in her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, achieving an outstanding score of B minus. She intends to join college to pursue a career in nursing. Her journey from adversity to achievement is a testament to the impact of your generosity and support.
We are grateful not only for the financial support that you have continued to provide but also for the hope, confidence, and a sense of empowerment that your generosity instills in these young women.
Thank you!
