Extending Compassion Across Borders

By Asif Jah | Project Leader

Dear Esteemed Donors,
Warm Season’s Greetings,

We are honored to share with you the latest update on our humanitarian efforts for the Rohingya Muslim refugees in Bangladesh—a community that continues to endure immense hardship and displacement. Your unwavering support has empowered the Customs Health Care Society (CHCS) to bring vital relief and renewed hope to these vulnerable families through ongoing aid missions and collaborative partnerships.

Humanitarian Action in Crisis Zones

Since the onset of the Rohingya crisis, CHCS has remained steadfast in its mission to support those forced to flee their homeland. In 2024, we continued this crucial work by dispatching a dedicated CHCS team from Pakistan to Bangladesh, where they coordinated with local NGOs to directly distribute relief within the overcrowded and underserved refugee camps.

This year’s comprehensive aid efforts included:

  • Nutritional Food Packages – Carefully curated dry ration packs delivered essential calories and nutrients to families struggling to meet daily needs.
  • Medical Supplies – Basic medicines and health essentials were distributed to help prevent outbreaks and provide treatment for common illnesses, especially among children and the elderly.
  • Clothing and Warm Gear – Garments and protective clothing were handed out to shield refugees from seasonal weather extremes, improving their comfort and dignity.
  • Toys for Children – Simple gifts for children served as powerful tools of healing, bringing moments of joy and psychological relief to young hearts living in trauma.

Access to Safe Drinking Water: A Critical Milestone

Recognizing the dire need for clean water, CHCS also prioritized the installation of hand pumps in key locations within the camps. These water points are not only life-sustaining but also vital in preventing the spread of waterborne diseases, which are prevalent in densely populated camps with limited sanitation. These efforts have greatly improved hygiene and health conditions across multiple refugee settlements.

Long-Term Commitment to a Forgotten Crisis

CHCS firmly believes that humanitarian support should not be fleeting. The Rohingya crisis remains unresolved, and the need for sustained assistance is greater than ever. We are committed to continuing our relief programs in 2025 and beyond, ensuring that displaced Rohingya families are not left behind in their time of need.

You Make This Possible

These impactful initiatives have only been possible because of your compassion, generosity, and trust. Your contributions have enabled us to respond quickly and effectively to this humanitarian emergency. From every family who received a food packet, from every child who drank clean water, and from every elder warmed by donated clothing—we extend their gratitude to you.

An Urgent Appeal for Continued Support

As we move forward, the scope of need remains vast. To keep our efforts alive and expand our reach, we humbly appeal for your continued partnership. Your support will help us to:

  • Ensure Consistent Food Distribution – Prevent hunger and malnutrition by delivering food to the most vulnerable.
  • Provide Lifesaving Medical Aid – Equip refugee clinics and mobile teams with medicines and health resources.
  • Improve Daily Living Conditions – Offer clothing, hygiene kits, blankets, and shelter materials to ease day-to-day hardships.
  • Strengthen Clean Water Access – Install new hand pumps and maintain existing ones to keep clean water flowing safely.

Together, We Are a Force for Hope

The plight of the Rohingya people is one of the greatest humanitarian tragedies of our time. Yet, through your kindness and continued support, we can offer hope, stability, and dignity to those who have lost everything. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a tangible difference in the lives of countless refugees.

Let us continue walking this path of compassion together. With your help, CHCS will remain a source of light and relief for the Rohingya community.

With sincere gratitude,
Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah
