IN HOUSE-TRAINING FOR TEACHERS1
IN HOUSE-TRAINING FOR TEACHERS1
  1. TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

We started the year with an in-house training for teachers from 1/30 – 1/31. Over two days, 42 teachers from Ibadan Grammar School Senior School actively participated in a Teachers’ Professional Development Training Program organized and sponsored by IGSOSANA. The focus was on equipping them with effective teaching strategies tailored for engaging students in overcrowded classrooms. The training covered a range of valuable techniques, including: -

  - Active Learning

  - Inquiry-based Learning

  - Cultivating Curiosity

  - Facilitating Discussion and Dialogue

  - Encouraging Collaborative Learning

  - Integrating Real-world Applications

Below are some captured moments from the program.

At the end of the training, the teachers were able to acquire the skills to record themselves while teaching in class so that their performance could be evaluated later.

 2.   IGNITE (Inspiring Growth & Nurturing Innovation Through Excellence)

This program started on February 7 and ran for seven weeks covering over 100 students.

It was a STEM and ROBOTICS Program designed to empower tomorrow’s innovators.

In addition, IGSOSANA organized mock examinations for all final-year students to promote success in their final examinations. The mock examinations were useful in assessing their proficiency in tackling their pivotal final examinations. The aim is to pinpoint areas of weakness and support the students in addressing them.

 3.  ESSAY WRITING AND POEM RECITATION
(Harnessing the Power of Language Arts)

The annual essay writing event was elevated by incorporating Poem Recitation for participants. About 90 students have enrolled in this year’s competition so far.

4.  ACADEMIC STAFF

IGSOSANA continues to support its six additional teachers in specialized subjects (Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, English/Literature, Physics, History, ICT, and Technical Drawing to support the pool of teachers hired by the government.
