Coastal students can read at night now

Still students read at night with kerosene lamp
Most of the Sundarbans coastal region, villages are encircled in darkness after the sunset due to lack of electricity and increased kerosene price. School students of the coastal areas can’t continue their study at night for lack of electricity; as their parents can’t support them with required kerosene.
To continue coastal areas school students’ education and reduce the suffering from darkness, BEDS has already supported 3000 coastal families by giving solar lamp, solar home system, solar generator and solar battery. In addition, five solar stations have been installed for community’s electricity facility. More than 75% families of the Banishanta union are now using renewable energy. Students of the Banishanta union are continuing their study at night with the help of solar lamp.
BEDS is trying to raise fund from GlobalGiving for supporting the coastal students with solar lamp. We have been communicating with the local people regularly about the progress of our project.

Solar lights help people during Covid-19

Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is an environmental development organization that has been trying to reduce the sufferings of the coastal people by supporting solar lamps since 2014.
BEDS has already supported 3000 coastal families by giving solar lamp, solar home system, solar generator and solar battery. In addition, five solar stations have been installed for community’s electricity facility. Local government declared Banishanta union as the first ever solar union in Bangladesh because of the renewable energy promotional activities of BEDS. Around 75% people of the union are now using renewable energy. Kerosene selling shops have been reduced from the union. Students are continuing their study at night with the help of solar lamp without any problem. Social security is also increased for local people. During Covid-19, this lamp becomes helpful for local people because, they can work at night for their income generation. But in the Sundarbans region, a lot of areas still have no electricity. So, we should consider about them and help them to minimize their problems.

Solar Lamp for Students Education in Bangladesh

Most of the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh is also non electrified and living in dark at night due to lack of electricity and increased kerosene price. Due to their poverty, parents can hardly purchase Kerosene for their children’s education purpose. As a result, school students of the coastal areas can’t continue their study at night for lack of electricity.
Considering the situation, Bangladesh Environment and Development Society is trying to raise fund from the donors for this purpose using GlobalGiving platform. So far we have raised 1,139$ from twenty five donations and expect to draw the donors kind attention and get the total amount 15000$ for this project very soon. It is our expectation that by 2021 we will be able to raise the total fund for this project. We have been communicating with the local people regularly about the progress of our project.
