The people of Sundarbans coastal region are mainly forest resources. BEDS has established BANOJIBI at Dacope adjacent to Sundarbans, where 265 families are training on nature-based product development, integrated farming, organic farming, native crop cultivation and tourism. Now the beneficiaries are engaged in integrated farming and getting maximum benefit from using the existing resources.
One of our beneficiaries expressed her feeling, “ Before I used to go for fishing with the husband in the forest. But it was quite risky and I couldn’t take care of my children. When BANOJIBI established, I was a member of BANOJIBI of agriculture sector as I have much interest in farming, but I did not have any cropland. Here I learned about integrated farming system and got native chicken and hen from BEDS which I rear in my homestead area and now I have 78 chickens and 105 Duck. Now I do not need to go to the forest to earn my livelihood. I have also cultivated vegetables in my homestead area. Through integrated farming, my economic condition has been improved and life becomes easier.
BEDS has established BANOJIBI and there are lots of deprived women in this region. BEDS is unable to support more women due to the lack of funding support. So, it’s a heartiest appeal to all the donors for being kind to help those vulnerable women to give them a chance to come out from the cycle of poverty and lead a respectful life.
We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation. Please click the following link; https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/changing-life-by-empowering-women/?show=recurring
