Jerry Giraffe April 2023 Report

First and foremost we would like to take this opportunity to Thank Globa lGiving for your ongoing support to assist us with our future Jerry Giraffe endeavours.

We are delighted to share with you some feedback from the parishes that we have trained last year. St Marks District Six – the children thoroughly enjoyed the stories as well as the songs. They had lots of interactions especially when it came to answering questions as well as the children asking questions. The program went very well. They would recommend all parishes to do the training with the children. The children were offered a reward once they had completed the training, cupcakes in the form of the tree which was instrumental as it showed the weeks that Jerry had visited.

St Martins Bergvliet – they are currently in the week 8 of the Jerry program. There are certain aspects which they will definitely use in the future, which are the golden rules, the yellow card and red card, the talking flower and the stars and smiley faces. Whilst doing the program they established some things about the children. They feel that doing the program brought these concerns to their attention, where they were not aware of it, had it not been for the Jerry Giraffe Program. They also had some children that they battled to engage as they are very quiet, and then they had children very excited that monopolized the class. The talking flower and the golden rules are excellent tools to use at all time. They will definantly continue to use the Jerry program.

Jerry Giraffe Sunday School Dec 2022

We had an overwhelming request from Children homes to come and introduce the Jerry Giraffe Sunday school program with their little ones.

Heaven’s Nest is an emergency foster facility for young children in need. They have +- 18 children in their care age 6months to 8years old. They offer a secure, loving home until the children can be re-united with their families, fostered or adoption takes place.

We implemented lessons one to four at their facilities in the presence of the carers. We had 8 children age 4 – 6 years old sitting in on the lessons. The children had great fun and interacted very well. At the same time the carers got a hands on training session to continue with the lessons afterwards.

The carers found the lessons to be very meaningful, easy to introduce, using the lesson planner makes teaching the lesson so manageable.

St Monica’s ECD situated in Wes bank is a Day care centre hosted on the St Monica’s Anglican Church grounds. The facility takes care of +- 80 children age 1 – 6 years old. They have 6 carers overseeing the children. This was very challenging for us as we had this huge amount of children sitting in for the lesson. To our surprise everything went off well except for a few little ones getting restless. At our next lesson we asked for the class to be split and have the older children to only attend. Lesson 2 had only age 4 – 6 years attending and it went much better. There was 37 children in this age group that attended the lesson.

We look forward to implementing the Jerry Giraffe Sunday School program to more Child and youth care centres & institutes in the coming years.

Thank you for your ongoing financial support it’s been a great help to our organisation, we were able to share the Jerry Giraffe awareness program with so many young innocent children.

We believe it’s a blessing to invest in little lives teaching them how to protect themselves from the dangers they might face in the world.

Jerry Giraffe Sunday School Sept 2022

The response to our 2022 parish visitation started out at a very slow pace but it is certainly harvesting positive results.

We had two well attended training sessions in July and we trust that more parishes will be calling on us in the near future.

Number of children to benefit from the programme: +- 10 ages 4-12 years

Name of Parish: St Martin's Bergvliet
Number of teachers attending: 10
Number of Children to benefit from the programme: +-12 ages 5-12years

All Sunday school teachers that attended the Jerry Giraffe training program were asked to complete our training evaluation forms and it was wonderful to get 100% positive feedback of how excellent our training sessions were conducted. They enjoyed the training session all their expectations were met and beyond, they had fun and could not believe how easy and simplified the lessons were.

The above 2 parishes were also asked to complete a evaluation form after each lesson they introduce to their class, and to send us pictures this in turn will help us to monitor the progress of their training sessions.

Firstly they will be having a meeting with the Sunday school children’s parents to get their consent before they start with the actual programme and cover the 10 lessons.

We considering to take on a new approach with all parishes that have done the Jerry Giraffe training in the past to complete an evaluation form for us. At some of our parish visitation we were told how appreciative they are for the Jerry Program and that is has become a part of their Sunday school’s yearly planning agenda.
