In honor of Mother’s Day, we want to highlight Eleni. Eleni is a member of the PTA at her children’s school in Addis Ababa. She enjoys volunteering at the school and can be found giving out hugs during school break times.
Most of the students who attend this school are from low-income families. Eleni says the PTA works closely with the school administration as well as the government to ensure all kids receive a high-quality education.
Part of a good education is a safe and healthy school environment. Before Splash began working at this school, water was only available three days per week. Now, students have clean water flowing as well as stored so that they have access to safe water all the time. Eleni reports that kids at the school are healthier and water-borne illnesses are less prevalent.
Speaking of her own children, Eleni says they understand the importance of safe water and good hand hygiene, even reminding their parents to wash their hands regularly with soap and water.
Eleni believes that, “everyone who works in school or not is responsible for kids, as the hope of the country is in the hands of this generation.”
When you make a gift of just $53, you can bring clean water to kids in schools like the one Eleni volunteers in.
Thank you for supporting clean water for kids!
