Provision of Clean water to the Children of Punjab

With the help of community members, AWARD Pakistan has taken the initiative to construct 3 RO water treatment facilities to supply safe drinking water to Punjab's three underprivileged villages. Because of the tremendous support it has received over the past few quarters, AWARD would like to thank its donors.

Surveys show that 75–80% of people in the nearby villages depend on subterranean salt water, which is becoming the source of waterborne illnesses. Another major cause for concern is the prevalence of arsenic in canal and subterranean water. Pakistan is predicted to be on the list of water-scarce nations in 2025 since many of its districts will run out of quality drinking water. So far, USD 5222 has been raised for the project. 

To begin building its water reverse osmosis filter plant in a rural part of District Faisalabad, AWARD initially needed 7,000 USD, which is because of a 46% increase in inflation.

In the meantime, AWARD has installed handpumps across the nation to supply populations without access to safe drinking water. The communities in these relevant places are grateful to GlobalGiving and AWARD and are very delighted.

In order to safeguard and manage the RO plant, AWARD will involve the community in its implementation. In addition to the GlobalGiving Donations, AWARD is searching for more means of raising money and is attempting to bring the matter before the local government representatives.

Once the target is achieved, the staff will inform the community about the intervention and the activities associated with it and will start initiating the project.

According to the surveys, 75–80% of the population in the surrounding villages relies on underground saline water, which is becoming the cause of waterborne diseases. The presence of arsenic in the underground and canal water is another big reason to worry. In 2025, Pakistan is expected to be among the list of water-scarce countries, as it will run out of clean drinking water in many areas. The project has raised USD 5222 so far. Meanwhile, AWARD has placed handpumps in various parts of the country to provide clean drinking water to the communities, do not have access to the water. The communities in these related areas are very happy and are thankful to AWARD and GlobalGiving.

For the installation of RO plants, AWARD will take the community on board to protect and maintain the RO plant. Apart from the GlobalGiving Donations, AWARD is also looking for other ways to raise funds and is also trying to advocate to the local government authorities about the issue. Once the target is achieved, the staff will inform the community about the intervention and the activities associated with it and will start initiating the project.
