As per our latest meeting with the Municipality of Mati, Rafina, Pikermi, they have announced that all houses that were built within the city limits will be granted new building licenses and will be initiating building works.
What is still very upsetting is that despite the licenses granted, the funds have not been released, hence, only the people that have the finances, can start with the repairs.
The most affected part of the population, are the owners of the houses built in disputed forestry areas, that until now, 1 and a half years later, have received 0 update about their housing and they continue to live in the temporary accommodation of the military camps.
Emfasis has facilitated 6 family requests for additional assistance with auxiliary tuition, as they live very far away from Rafina and it was challenging to use the public transport. In the Ag. Andreas military camps, there was a severe issue with heating for the winter, hence, we supplied 22 houses with portable heaters, however, the electricity capacity of the camp was not sufficient to support all of this extra heaters and there were several power failures.
Finally, during the entire Festive Season, we have been distributing 77 solidarity family baskets, with a number of necessary hygiene items, symbolic gifts and supermarket vouchers, to provide them with the dignity of purchasing their own items.
