The elderly, the women the children came from the west, the food was either taken, the cattle slaughtered, the men folk disappeared...
They came demoralised, with no homes and their few belongings, wearing the typical sandals of Tigray, plastic jelly like shoes. Now they are worn out, they are bare foot...
Limited multilateral aid agency food lorries / trucks have been permitted into Tigray that in turn meant starvation of the population. So Abraham's Oasis stepped into the gap. Buying local food grain and high protein flour and sharing this out among the hungry people.
Recently AO shared food with government workers who had not been paid for eight months. So most folk had a little to eat over the Orthodox Easter.
It has been challenging to get money into Tigray too, many merchants are accepting cheques against payment when money arrives. We are grateful to these merchants for their trust in AO.
