Preparandonos para el ano escolar 2023-2024

By Staff | OSCASI

We are very excited to resume classes and start a new school year, with new challenges, new goals, but always pursuing the same objective, to provide opportunities to our 165 OSCASI children.

The 2022-2023 school period was a year full of successes and good results; where we implement new pedagogical tools, provide training to our teachers and provide our children with health and nutrition care. Some of the achievements were:

-18,836 plates of food served in  OURAlternative Schools

-32 students graduated from sixth grade and zoned in high schools

-26 training workshops for teachers and parents

-46 trade training workshops. They include: piñateria, hairdressing, barbering, waxing, manicure and technical service.

-26 volunteer art sessions

-28 volunteer sessions of Mamás Lectoras (reading and writing)

-2 health care days that included: pediatrics, general medicine, laboratory service and nutritional assessment.

-1 vaccination day

-7 malnourished students are receiving the nutritional supplements necessary for their recovery.

-2 dental care days for all students of the OSCASI Alternative Schools

-22 serious dental cases attended by volunteer mothers in their private dental offices.

During the summer holidays, the OSCASI educational staff together with the different coordinations of the administrative headquarters worked on planning the new school year. The teachers, directors and pedagogical coordination held several meetings where they worked on the schedule, diagnosis plan and school enrollment. Likewise, in preparation for returning to school, different teacher training workshops were organized.

ART THERAPY WORKSHOP: In mid-September, the Art volunteer delegate did an activity for all OSCASI staff, in preparation for returning to school to get to know each other and reinforce teamwork.

SENSORY TRAINING: The teachers also had a training workshop with the therapist Maria Alejandra Rodríguez, on sensory activities, visual cues for concentration and proprioceptive activities. Teachers received sensory techniques for better student development in the classroom.

WORKSHOP ON GENDER VIOLENCE: With the help of the Fundafid organization, our teachers received training for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence.

FIRST AID WORKSHOP: With the support of the Loyola Excursionist Center of the Colegio San Ignacio, all OSCASI staff (Alternative Schools and Administrative Headquarters) received training on action protocols for accident prevention, first aid and response to emergency situations.

Our goal is to continue adding achievements and grow as an organization to be able to provide our 165 children from the OSCASI Alternative Schools with the education, health care and food they deserve. With your contribution you help us join efforts to continue transforming realities. THANK YOU!

¡GRACIAS!
