Even though the challenges facing the world due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the current crisis in Ukraine, Camp for Peace Liberia maintained its usual activities during the period under review. Ten-day camp sessions were carried out for women, youth, and children during the period under review. Activities such as storytelling, lecture series, presentation, singing, etc., were carried out during these sessions. Similarly, special sessions were held on trauma awareness, psychosocial counseling, and conflict resolution.
In one of our sessions, a participant made this catching statement "I feel more comfortable and stress-free every time I come to camp. I take the knowledge and learning acquired to my family, including my husband and children who also feel the comfort of camp and want to come someday" (Norway).
Another participant also made this excellent recommendation: "I wish camping activities would be introduced in all parts of Liberia for people to learn how to co-exist, reconcile and forgive each other. I came to this camp without knowledge about trauma, conflict resolution, and stress management. Now I am going back filled with this knowledge. I hope to share them with my friends and families so that we will have a happy family and be able to help other people in our community cope with their trauma and help others to resolve conflict. I am grateful to the organizers for inviting us to this camp". (Loop).
Another participant said, "Your camp activities have made me forget about all the difficulties I went through during the civil war, Ebola, and CONVID 19. I never thought I would ever cope or overcome those difficult moments, but your camp activities have made me develop strategies that will help me along the way. Thanks to Camp for Peace Liberia". (Krubo).
Hence during the period under review, 200 participants attended our camping programs. They have all expressed a great delight in what they learned and promised to teach others and bring them to our future camps. Thanks to our partners who continue contributing to our camping program in Liberia despite COVID 19.
