Dear Friend,
Each new life we welcome at MamaBaby is a spark of hope—a reminder that even in the hardest places, a better future is still being born.
Recently, a young mother named Nadia came to us.
She delivered a healthy baby boy. But moments later, she began to bleed.
And bleed. And bleed.
Our midwives moved quickly—working in sync, drawing on every skill, every medication, every ounce of their training. In Haiti today, there is often nowhere else to go. Hospitals are distant, unsafe, or simply unreachable. For Nadia, transfer was not an option.
MamaBaby was the end of the line.
“I felt like I was dying,” she told us.
For a moment, we feared she might.
And then—finally—the bleeding stopped.
Nadia survived.
She is only 16 years old. She lost her mother as a child and now lives with her blind grandmother. She has no stable income, no support from the baby’s father, and no certainty about what tomorrow will bring.
And still—she smiled, holding her newborn son.
Because of you, Nadia is alive to raise her child.
Her story is not the only one. It is one of many.
In 2025, your support has helped make possible:
16,064 prenatal visits, where mothers receive early care, risk screening, and preparation for safe delivery
1,662 births attended, each one supported by skilled midwives ready to respond in critical moments
2,253 postnatal visits, ensuring both mother and baby continue to thrive after birth
Behind each number is a life—protected, supported, and given a chance.
In a country where nearly 60% of people live on less than $2.40 a day, where there is only about one midwife for every 50,000 people, and where many women still give birth alone, this care is not just important—it is essential.
At our two birth centers in Cap-Haïtien and Lascahobas, 14 Haitian midwives and 22 dedicated staff provide care around the clock. Together, they ensure that women like Nadia are never alone in their most vulnerable moments.
Because of you, this care is always free.
Because of you, our midwives have the medications they need to stop hemorrhaging, prevent infection, and save lives.
Because of you, hope continues—birth after birth.
"Espwa fè viv." (Hope gives life.)
Thank you for standing with these mothers, for believing in their strength, and for making it possible for more babies—and more mothers—to survive and thrive.
With deep gratitude,
The MamaBaby Haiti Team
