Donate Food for 30 Poor Old Age People in India

Thank you for all your generous donations through GlobalGiving. We are able to providing nutritious meals to 30 hungry destitute elders in Budhavarapeta urban Slum of Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh, India. 30 Destitute Elders are getting food every day from our Nutritious Meals Centre.

The poor old age people are neglected by their sons and daughters. At this later stage some of them are going to beg in and around slums as well temples. 30 Destitute Elderly Women are having every day meals at the Harijanawada, Budhavarapeta Slum, Kurnool. The Age groups of the elderly persons are 60 to 90years. These old age persons are sleeping at Grave yards, Hundri River side, neighbour houses varandas, some of them are even not having homes. Homeless elderly people are suffering with starvation.

To reduce begging on the streets, we are providing hot nutritious meals in the mid day meal program is a daily based program which is successfully running through our SERUDS Charity. 30 old age women beneficiaries are coming regularly to have meals from 1:00 pm to 2:00 PM. In this mid-day meal initiative the old age women having meals includes, hot cooked sona masoori Rice, Pickle, Vetable Curry, Sambar / Rasam, Pappu. This program is one of the most useful to feed the hungry destitute elderly people. To prevent hunger among destitute old age persons we have taken up this initiative. With out your generous support, It is very difficult to serve timely nutritious meals to hungry destitute elderly women.

Thank you for kind continuing support. With your humble & generous donations through GlobalGiving we are able to feed hungry destitute elders in our target area. We are providing every day nutritious meals to 30 poor old age persons.

Impact of Donations:

We here below giving one success story of destitute elderly woman, who have lost every thing and getting food from SERUDS meals centre.

Background of the destitute elderly person:

Mrs.S.Chittemma aged 65years
W/o.S.Govindu (Late)
H.No.48-165C, Harijanawada, Budhavarapeta, Kurnool – 518 002, Andhra Pradesh, India

She belongs to Scheduled Caste (Dalit) Community living in Kurnool Urban Slum. She had 3 sons namely

1. Srinivasulu (eldest one)

He got married with Ms.Laxmidevi who belongs to Alampur village and blessed with 2 children Narasamma and Narasimhulu.

Srinivasulu attempted suicide with Kirosene oil and was burnt and died. Wife Laxmi Devi got tongue cancer and died at the early age of children Narasamma (2yrs) and Narasimhulu (3Months). Now the ages of Narasamma are 15yrs and Narasimhulu is 13yrs.

Narasamma studying 10^th class in Indira Gandhi Memorial High school, A.Camp, Beside District Collectorate office, Kurnool. Narasamma getting regular educational support from SERUDS. The educational Support includes school fees, Uniforms, Notebooks, writing pad, geometry box, pencils, pens, Tiffin Box, Shoes, School bag, etc.

Narasimhulu going to the construction labour work to feed her sister and grand mother. He goes to the construction work wherever the mason allots the work. He earns Rs.150/- per day for this vocation. He dropped out from studies from the school because of this poverty, starvation in the family. When he suffer from the fever his grand mother goes to the near by houses for begging. By doing this she feed her grand children.

2. Venkateshwarlu (elder one)

He was an illiterate was doing daily wage labour work in market yard. He used to earn Rs.100/- per day. He was asset to the family. He got jaundice and due to blind belief he was taken traditional medicine and got reaction and passed away.

3. Narasimha (younger one)

He was younger son and illiterate. He was cleaner for tractor and met with an accident in the year 1993 and passed away.

S.Chittemma strugling a lot to feed herself and children. Now she is getting meals regularly every day at SERUDS Old People centre. Now she is happy that SERUDS is providing some possible extendable meal support to her. Now her health levels have been increased.
