Empowering Sia with a Sewing Machine

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

Investing in young women’s economic empowerment and skills development is one of the most urgent and effective means to drive progress on gender equality, poverty eradication, and inclusive economic growth- UN Women.

One of the ways educational support is provided to young ladies is through vocational training.  This provides crucial training in marketable skills, which are vital for poverty reduction, economic recovery, and sustainable development.

Thanks in part to your support, Sia attended tailoring classes to learn to sew and recently received her own sewing machine. She expressed her deep gratitude for the new sewing machine.

Donors like you are empowering young women like Sia to become self-sufficient.  Making a monthly donation is the most effective way to help girls get their education, but every dollar donated makes a difference.

If you are not yet a recurring donor and would like to sign up for a recurring donation go here.   If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

With great appreciation,

Amy and the Develop Africa team
