The official opening ceremony of the Kamawornie Nursery School marked a significant milestone in the community's educational landscape. Attended by local dignitaries, community leaders, educators, parents, and children, the event was filled with excitement and anticipation for the opportunities the school would bring.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Mrs. Solade P., a Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) board member, who emphasized the importance of early childhood education.  DASL Board member, Emeka K., was also in attendance (as shown in the photo above).

Mrs. Solade P said, "I am privileged to see our vision for this school come to life — a place where curiosity is fostered, young minds are developed, and the groundwork for lifetime learning is established. One cannot stress the importance of early childhood education. Children develop the abilities, attitudes, and values to determine their destiny throughout these formative years".

Women's Representative -Madam Marie D. was in attendance and said, "As a representative of the women, she noted the highlighted challenges women faced in providing education for their children, stressing that men need to do better to alleviate the burden of responsibility of raising children from the shoulders of the women. "I am acutely aware of the critical role that early childhood education plays in shaping the trajectory of a child's life, especially for girls who have historically faced barriers to accessing quality education."

To her, the Kamawornie Nursery School is a beacon of hope, especially for kids living in the surrounding villages, offering a safe and nurturing environment where every child, regardless of gender, can thrive and reach their full potential.

The successful completion of the Kamawornie Nursery School is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Develop Africa Sierra Leone, the local community, and generous supporters like you.

Your support helped make this happen.  We are super grateful for your investment in the education of this community.

This initiative underscores the transformative power of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and building a brighter future for vulnerable girls in Sierra Leone.
