Educate a Girl, Educate a Nation - Sierra Leone

One of the girls your support has recently helped is Jane, pictured above who received school supplies and tuition support for this school year.  She is starting Senior Secondary School (SSS) which is equivalent to high school this year.  Her favorite subject is Language Arts and she would like to become a medical doctor when she completes school.

Today is International Literacy Day, which reminds us of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights for all.

Gender-transformative education unlocks the potential of learners in all their diversity, contributes to ending harmful gender norms, attitudes and practices, and transforms institutions to achieve just equal, and inclusive societies. Ballusa has been receiving educational support and is very thankful for supporters, like you, who are helping her go to school.  She is in junior secondary school and enjoys reading, mathematics, and dancing. She hopes to become a nurse when she grows up.
